The Lahn is a river in Germany, a right tributary of the Rhine. It has its source at the Ederkopf mountain in the Rothaargebirge, the highest part of the Sauerland. After 242 km it meets the Rhine at Lahnstein, near Koblenz. Important cities along the Lahn include Marburg, Gießen, Wetzlar, Limburg an der Lahn, Weilburg and Bad Ems. The tributaries to the Lahn river include Dill, Weil and Aar. The river features a lot of dams with locks allowing regular shipping from its mouth up to Runkel. Riverboats are also used on small section North of the dam in Giessen.
