Lahash International
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lahash International is an aid organization providing relief to East African nations. Founded in 2004, it is primarily focused on assisting Southern Sudanese widows and orphans, and alerting the local community in Eldoret, Kenya about AIDS and its prevention. Lahash has chosen to work on a grassroots level teaming up with teams on a local level.
Currently there are three primary projects in effect:
- Amazing Grace Orphanage: An orphanage that is home to over thirty children orphaned by the civil war.
- Sudanese Widows Project: An initiative to provide basic essentials (food, shelter, clothing, blankets) for desperate widows.
- Ukimwi: Ukimwi is the Swahili word for AIDS. This project is alerting local residents about the dangers of AIDS, and providing basic relief to affected families and orphans.
The organization also leads trips to East Africa for those interested, and partners compassionate individuals and groups with projects in East Africa.
