Talk:La Cagoule
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I restored the notation of Francois Mitterand, which had been removed by someone else on the grounds of "no source." Nothing on the page has a source, so by that rationale the entire thing should be deleted; indeed, most of Wikipedia would fall under the same scrutiny. For a discussion of Mitterand's involvement with the group, see Bar-Zohar's book "Bitter Scent," which is listed at the bottom of the page and provided the background for my original version of the page, posted in March 2005.
[edit] Mitterrand
"According to Michael Bar-Zohar, President of the Fifth Republic François Mitterrand, who was a junior minister under Vichy, but worked for the Resistance, was also a member of the Cagoule Michael Bar-Zohar, Bitter Scent: The Case of L'Oréal, Nazis, and the Arab Boycott (London, Dutton Books: 1996) pp. 264.."
May you please provide another source apart of this book? Bar-Zohar doesn't seem to be very famous, and although I am not personally opposed to quoting sources that goes against popular knowledge, claims that a president used to belong to a terrorist group needs a bit more than a "controversial" historian which we don't know anything more. If Zohar is a WP:RS, you surely can prove it. If he isn't, than it must be removed. Your argument about "most of Wikipedia" is not a legitimate argument. Lapaz 12:57, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
- Beside there is nothing concerning this alleged involvement in the French Wikipedia, and I can assure you that if it was known in France (and Mitterrand's far right past is known - but belonging to the far right is not belonging to a terrorist group), than it would be there. [edit] Splitting off the coat article
The coat and the group have nothing to do with each other, so I will be splitting it off for WP:FASHION and removing the tag. Daniel Case 14:01, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- No problem with that. I'm not sure why I didn't do that originally. (Author of the coat bit) Bards 14:23, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

- I've done it, and added this to the WP:FRANCE worklist. Daniel Case 22:20, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
