La Tigra National Park

La Tigra National park (local Name : Parque Nacional La Tigra) was the first National Park of the country of Honduras (in 1980), and it has been protected since the early 1950's. It lies just outside Tegucigalpa, Honduras, is easily accessible and provides a lot of hospitality like dormitories, a visitors' center, guides and good trails, a place to breathe the purest air. A cloud forest with an area of 328 km², located just 25 km from Tegucigalpa. It has a Visitor’s Center with information about the plant and animal life it houses.

Bromeliads, ferns, moss, fungi ,and the giants of the forest; oaks, encino, pine, ceibo – the sacred tree of the Mayans. Also, avocado trees, which are the main food source for the quetzal.
