La Grange is a small unincorporated village in rural Stanislaus County, California. As of January 1st 2007 the population of La Grange is 1,129. With over 50% of the population being female. The demographics of La Grange are 76.5% White, 2.3% African American, 12.8% Hispanic, 1.1% Asian American 3.4% Native American, 5% Other. The main route to La Grange is Highway 99 and east on junction 16. La Grange is the only incorporated town in Stanislaus County that has a mayor elect, Nelson Pettitt Esq. local attorney. La Grange takes it name from Norman La Grange a farmer from southern California who traveled to Stanislaus County in 1929 who in search of fertile soil for farming his own crop then selling it. Norman bought a piece of land and cultivated it. He had a large family consisting of 10 children all farm workers. Some of his decendants still live in La Grange.
