Talk:L-plate

There's also an equivalent of an L-plate in Japan too - it's kinda a green and yellow V-shaped thing. Anyone know much about these, or have any pictures of them? --Zilog Jones 17:20, 27 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] P-plates in Australia
Article says:
- In Australia the P plates stand for "provisional", they are red on white for the first year after passing the Learner test and then after taking a computerised test are green on white for two years.
This actually varies on a state by state basis: the above description is of the New South Wales licencing system. Will tidy up Thayvian 12:04, 15 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] P plates
What is the point of green p plates when you don't even want 18 year old to get there p plates
In Australia, you can get ur P Plates at the age of 17 You are eligible for a a learners permit (L plates) at 16 :) The second set of P's available at 18, allow you to do 100kph (the legal limit everywhere except freeways (110kph), and the northern territory (no limits on major highways), other than not allowing you to have a blood alcohol reading (the normal limit is 0.05), the 2nd set of P's are fairly equivalent to a full license
The new zealand L plate background is much more yellow than the orange showed.
[edit] Menace
What about the menace of people who are normal drivers who have passed driving cars that still have someone else's L-plates attached. Is this illegal in the UK, to display when it is not accurate. It causes lots of problems. --LeedsKing 11:16, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
- The Highway Code says Plates should be removed or covered when not being driven by a learner (except on driving school vehicles). Should as opposed to must means it's advisory so there is no law against full licence holders displaying L plates. AlexJ 15:51, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
