There was a mixup between Bakin's pen name and actual name, which I've fixed. I've also poked a few other bits, but have a question. The ja.wikip page on the hakkenden novel uses the modern 伝 character, but the novel itself uses the old 傳 source, which would be correct when giving the title in japanese? --zippedmartin 22:15, 20 July 2005 (UTC)

Solved it by writing an article on the book, and giving both trad and simplified titles. I'd not noticed the 總/総 switch anyway, fonts too small... --zippedmartin 00:03, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Kyokutei or Bakin

I've seen this page been changed back and forth between Kyokutei and Bakin. Various reasons have been given. One in particular was WP:NAMES#Subsequent_uses_of_names. However, Kyokutei was not his surname and I have tried to clarify this point. It was Takizawa. Modern scholarship generally refers to him as Takizawa Bakin or more commonly just as Bakin. Kyokutei by itself just does not seem natural. Whatever the argument, I think WP:IAR may be most applicable here. Bendono 14:00, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

That MoS section takes pseudonyms into account already: For people who are best known by a pseudonym, they shall be referred to by their pseudonym surname, .... Having said that, I definitely don't feel strong about it; just fixing what was broke (according to the MoS). If there is a feeling that it ain't broke (despite the MoS), that's a separate matter.
