Talk:Kyle Farnsworth

[edit] Pitches
I took out the "pitches" section - this is an encyclopedia, not a sports blog. point to some comments from Yankee management if it is widely held.
- ...widely known that he cannot locate any of his pitches...
- It is a widely held belief among Yankee management and fans alike that Kyle Farnsworth cannot be trusted in pressure situations
- He also throws a highly ineffective sharp, hard-breaking slider

[edit] substance
Don't get me wrong, I think Farnsworth is an atrocious pitcher. But someone needs to substantiate the "pitching" section with verifiable facts, not "widely held beliefs". Can someone dig these up? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.21.176.141 (talk) 02:29, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not a huge fan of his myself, but that section is just ridiculous. I removed all references to the internet chat thing, as it was a fake transcript on a humor site. I added a citation needed to the rest of it, but I'll give a few days for somebody to cite the substance abuse and womanizing before I just take it out per Biographies of living persons. - Mbruno42 (talk) 01:22, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] why
Why Yankees's fan hate him so much?--61.224.203.70 06:12, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
- He's not a very good reliever; he's a hothead; he has loads of talent he can't capitalize on; he can't have 1-2-3 innings (ever); he replaced Tom Gordon, who was quite good with the Yanks, in the chief set-up role, and he's just generally surly towards the media and his teammates. -Zookman12 06:21, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
- Zookman is pretty much on point. The guy has the potential to dominate; his fastball can hit triple digits with some regularity, his slider is nasty and he throws a decent split. But he never manages to get ahead of the hitter, it seems like he is perpetually at a 3-1 or 2-0 count. It's one thing to bomb, but to bomb then criticize the deal Clemens got, bark at Torre and throw your equipment after getting pulled in the middle of a terrible performance, then damn near break Jorge's wrist by throwing a fastball when you had agreed to throw a slider? Get the eff out of here with that.

- While I am going to be buried in a Yankees hat, I follow the Cubbies as well, and I was a huge fan of his when he was with the club, and followed him the following year when he split time with Detroit and Atlanta. So I was really excited when he came to NY. I think it just comes down to the fact that he is yet another guy who just doesn't have the make-up to play ball in Yankee Stadium.

- All that being said, we should not be using this page as a forum. The one note that is worth putting here is that I already removed some pretty unpleasant vandalism from this page, and I have a feeling there will be more to come. I already have this on my watch list, probably wouldn't be the worst idea if a few others added it as well. It would definitely worth checking the page on nights where he comes in and stinks up the place.Mbruno42 14:35, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
