1. Kylie Minogue : Shows a scene from a music video that is considered as a key moment in the career of this performer and which was widely discussed by music commentators then and since. Previously a pop performer, Minogue made this video in collaboration with Nick Cave was intended to convey a darker side to this performer, using themes of death and murder. Its marketing, which depended strongly on the music video, was intended to present the performer to a wider and more mature audience than she had appealed to previously. This was considered to be an artistic success and this significant period is discussed in the article in some detail. The image is intended to illustrate this section of text more specifically than would be possible with prose only. Of lesser importance is that the use of the image allows for an example of external influences being used, in this case the painting Ophelia (painting) by John Everett Millais. |
