Kwakintl is a tribe located in Polynesia. They are examined by Ruth Benedict as having an unusual tradition of its leaders killing innocent people to avenge the death of their loved ones. In Benedict's essay A Defence of Ethical Relativism, she notes that this behavior is deemed perfectly normal and acceptable by the tribespeople.
