Kwapi T. Vengesayi was born November 22, 1982 in Harare, Zimbabwe. Attended high school at St Ignatius College & St Georges College, elite Zimbabwean Jesuit boarding schools. Attended the University of Idaho where he graduated with an Interdisciplinary Studies Degree in Architecture & the Sociology of Design. While attending the University of Idaho, he was the Awarded the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Distinguished Service Award as well as the University of Idaho Award in Leadership & Service as well as other Awards from Washington State University.

Vengesayi’s subsequent rise came from the cultural showcase ‘Shades of Black: Black City’ A showcase he Created and Coordinated, Shades of Black is a cultural showcase that highlights the different textures and dimensions of the black experience. Featuring students and individuals of African Descent from various universities such as Washington State University, the University of Washington, Boise State University, Oregon State University, Montana State University and other up and coming stars such as Big Mijo from the Krump Kings and DJ Tina T, Shades of Black: Black City bas become the most regionally acclaimed cultural showcases within the Pacific Northwest.

Known for his enthusiasm and tenacity, Vengesayi has been seen to possess the potential to become a great leader. His neo-Africanist perspective, evident in his Design Projects and articles as well as events and activism not only reflects a new consciousness within the next generation but perhaps brings hope to a country like Zimbabwe.
