The Kuwaiti families’ origin is divided as follow: 1- Bedouin tribes of the Arabian Peninsula. 2- Persian migrant families. 3- Iraqi migrant families. 4- Other minorities.
During the establishment of Kuwait (18th century), Alsabah family (the ruling family), amongst most other families migrated to Kuwait for various reasons of the essence of living, i.e. safety, food and water etc. The political instability of the region was the main element of creating the mixture of such society, especially at the start of the 19th century, the Ottoman Empire, the Ikhwan movement and bin soud, the British treaties, and until the independence of Kuwait (1961). Most of the families have till this day relatives in the neighboring countries of Kuwait. Arabian peninsula tribal descendants families like alawazem, enizah, shammar, otaibah, egman, muttair, zufair, marrah, qahtan, subaia, harb, suhol, and others are the majority of the Kuwaiti society population, other families go by family names which are different than the previously mentioned tribe names, sometimes its a branch of the tribe name, or a grand father name, but can be easily tracked by the tribal society to their root tribe.
