Maori carved house post from Tanenuiarangi meeting house, Waipapa marae, University of Auckland. Late 20th century. This house post depicts the navigator Kupe, holding a paddle to mark his prowess as a seafarer, with two sea creatures, one an octopus (wheke), at his feet.
