Founding of kumamoto: How could the city have been founded in 1889 when the castle was built in the 1600s? Christopher Mahan 19:53, 14 Nov 2003 (UTC)

It could've been just a town then. Moreover, "city" here probably means "legal city of the modern world". --Menchi 23:36, 14 Nov 2003 (UTC)

[edit] Removal of Helena, Montana from list of sister cities

I looked for Helena on the Kumamoto official web site but was unable to locate it. The only US sister city they listed was San Antonio. If you have a reliable reference for Helena, it would enhance the article. Fg2 07:38, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
