Kuala Lumpur FA season 2006-07

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kuala Lumpur competed in the Premier League, FA Cup and the Malaysia Cup in season 2006-07.

Under the coaching of former KL star Mat Zan Mat Aris, who was in charge for a fourth consecutive season, the City side began the season on a bright note, winning their first two league games. But a run of 11 matches in without a win in all competitions, including a first round defeat in the FA Cup, meant any hopes of silverware ended by the end of March.

Former Jamaican international striker Kevin Lamey was signed mid-season to strenghten a misfiring strike force. Lamey contributed 12 goals, including seven in the Malaysia Cup, which saw KL win three and draw two of their last five group matches but fell one point short of qualifying for the knock-out quarter-final stage.

KL floundered in the league, failing to win any of their last six matches, to end the season in a lowly seventh place, their worst finish in five years in the second-tier Premier League.
