[edit] My Network TV Affiliation
Why isn't this station affiliating with My Network TV?
- It is now, but affiliation isn't automatic for stations losing the WB or UPN (except for the Fox owned stations). Fox and each station has to negotiate the terms for it. Likely what helped to cause the delay for KTVD/KUPN was that Gannett was in the middle of completing the purchase and moving the station's offices and studios into KUSA's building. [edit] Zap2it.com showing KUPN as independent?
Zap2it.com is showing KUPN as running programming independent from KTVD and UPN or MNTV . Is this is a mistake in Zap2it's data or is KUPN really not a translator for KTVD? Another source shows similar programming, though it may be getting its data from the same service. However, TitanTV shows UPN and MNTV programming on KUPN. Who's right? [edit] KUPN not sold with KTVD
KUPN was not sold to Gannett as a piece of the KTVD sale. The FCC database has the correct information but most of the published info on the sale (B&C, etc.) was incorrect. KUPN is still owned by Channel 20 TV Company and is currently programming the America One network. --Xbrewer 01:25, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
- According to tvguide.com, as of 7/22/2007, KUPN still repeats KTVD. Therefore, I have reverted the article back to where it was when it was a repeater. -- azumanga 16:15, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
- Looks like things are no different than when I commented over a year ago. TitanTV still shows KUPN as simulcasting KTVD, but it now gets its information from TV Guide, so that is not surprising. However, Zap2it.com, which gets its data from Tribune Media Services (which also supplies listings for TiVo), still shows KUPN broadcasting different programming. Two usually reliable sources are clearly in conflict. However, I present more evidence to support Zap2it's KUPN schedule:
- KUPN is listed on the America One website affiliate list.
- KUPN is not listed on the MyNetworkTV website affiliate list.
- Several shows' websites list KUPN, but not KTVD, as carrying their shows, including Fisher's ATV World, Macabre Theatre, and Kerry Shook. These programs are confirmed by Zap2it's schedule (but not by TV Guide or TitanTV).
- Backchannelmedia, which also gets its data from Tribune, has a historical schedule of both KUPN and KTVD, which shows a definite programming split occurring on August 5, 2006, a month before MyNetworkTV began.
- Unless someone can give me a good reason why I should trust TV Guide or TitanTV as a reliable source on the subject of KUPN's programming, in the face of this evidence, I am going to correct the information on this page, and change KUPN to be a separate article, instead of redirecting here. - A quick search of the FCC database will show that KUPN is still owned by Channel 20 TV Company the Newsweb Corporation subsidiary. It was definitely not sold to Gannett, does not broadcast MNT programming, is an affilliate of America One and has long since abandoned the possibility of moving the city of license to Fort Morgan. I worked for both stations at the time of the sale and am still very familiar with the KUPN operation in Sterling.Xbrewer (talk) 23:49, 5 April 2008 (UTC)xbrewer
