[edit] Speedy deletion of Craft and design program

A tag has been placed on Craft and design program, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

non-notable building at some college

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet very basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. DMacks 00:51, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

  • Quite apart from it being non-notable, is it not the stupendous arrogance to give the article that title and then write about about one program at one college? Is Sheridan the only college in the world with a craft and design program? -- RHaworth 00:58, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Global perspective

Hi Kstompkins,

Wikipedia is a global encyclopedia, so a generic page-name like "Furniture program" really isn't appropriate. I bet other places have a furniture program, and it isn't even clear that you're talking about an educational thing. More importantly, there needs to be at least some minimal justification for a page to exist at all. This is called "notability". A minor topic of a larger page is often better included in the parent page instead of having lots of tiny pages about relatively insignificant (on their own) things. DMacks 16:41, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Vandal

Despite my message above, you recreated both Furniture program and Craft and design program. You also removed a speedy delete tag. Have you actually read any of the messages to you?

I have blocked you briefly. When your block expires, feel free to add notes about these programs to the Sheridan College article, but otherwise, for goodness sake, think globally. -- RHaworth 17:05, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
