Kristen Gregory

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kristen Gregory is a fictional character in The Clique series, an ongoing series of books by Lisi Harrison. Kristen will be portrayed by Bridgit Mendler in The Clique movie.

[edit] Personality and Family

Kristen Michelle Gregory is a member of the The Pretty Committee, the ruling A-list clique at Octavian County Day School, a private girls school in Westchester, New York. The other members of the Pretty Committee, and her closest friends, are Dylan Marvil, Massie Block, Alicia Rivera, and Claire Lyons.

The major difference between Kristen and the other girls (with the exception of Claire) is that she is middle-class and is at OCD on a scholarship. Her parents are very strict. Her dad used to be a rich art dealer, but lost all of his money a few years before. Her friends (with the exception of Claire, who finds out in the first book) don't know until the third book of the series, Revenge of the Wannabes. She seems very polite and is super smart, often correcting things.

Kristen loves word games. She is always saying mixed up words for her friends, which they do not always understand. In the beginning of the series, Kristen likes crossword-speak, like for example, ehmagawd, give me a six-letter word for scandal, gossip, but later on finds she enjoys word jumbles more, like on yaw= no way.

Kristen loves to play soccer, and is the star player and captain on OCD's soccer team, the Sirens. Her parents are very strict about what she wears and does. She changes her clothes from conservative to fashionable in the back of Massie's Range Rover every morning. In Best Friends for Never, Invasion of the Boy Snatchers, and again in Dial L for Loser, the strictness of her parents is shown, by being grounded and being forced to study when she gets kicked out of school (The Pretty Committee Strikes Back). She often complains about being the only clique member who is actually disciplined. Kristen seems to be super best friends with Dylan, as they are always seen together.

[edit] Appearance

Kristen is described as having a tiny frame made entirely of muscle, sharp soccer calves, dirty blond hair, a perfect, J-shaped nose, narrow aqua eyes, and thin lips. In the fourth book of the Clique series, Invasion of the Boy Snatchers, Nina, Alicia's cousin, said that Kristen has "sexy, defined legs". In the same book, all her long hair gets cut off in a tragic haircut and leaves her looking like a boy (although Abby Boyd in Dial L for Loser calls it sophisticated). She wears red Revlon lipstick so that people realize that she is female in Invasion of the Boy Snatchers. Kristen and Claire have a lot in common, appearance-wise. They are both rather flat-chested and they are both blond.

[edit] Love Life

Like Dylan, Kristen has never had a major love interest, until the second book. In Best Friends for Never, she and Dylan have a fight because they both like soccer-playing Derrick Harrington, dubbed Derrington. However, he has an interest in the Pretty Committee's alpha, Massie. After her ill-fated crush on Derrington, she develops a somewhat of a crush in Invasion of the Boy Snatchers, on Kemp Hurley. However, it is only so she will win a bet and be kissed before Dylan. She chooses Kemp Hurley because she thinks he is a pervert and will makeout wiyh her but later, ESP tells her that Kemp Hurley likes Dylan in the book 'Sealed with a Diss.'

In Sealed with a Diss, after Skye makes it clear that the girls have to bring dates, she decides to go with a goth named Griffin Hastings, whose father owns many pizza restaurants, where he works at as a busboy. After watching ESP vision, the secret camera inside the boy's feelings class, she thinks Griffin is really into poetry and love novels, when it was a really just to get a passing grade in ESP. He breaks up with her at Skye's party for keeping on thinking and asking about being sensitive and talking about The Notebook. In Bratfest at Tiffany's it is stated that Dune Baxter, the brother of the girl she babysat over the summer, gave her a shark tooth necklace. Therefore, she is finally interested in him.
