KPTM is a Fox affiliate licensed to Omaha, Nebraska, seen on channel 42 analog, channel 43 digital. It is owned by Pappas Telecasting. Pappas also owns two other stations in the market, KXVO and KAZO-LP. KPTM's transmission tower is located at 41°04'15.31" N, 96°13'31.48" W, in Gretna, Nebraska.

KPTM was the third broadcasting property owned by Pappas when it began broadcasting on March 13, 1986 (after flagship KMPH-TV in Visalia, California and WHNS in Greenville, South Carolina). It was the second independent station in Nebraska; at the time, Omaha was one of the few top-100 markets that didn't have an independent station of its own.

KPTM today is a typical Fox affiliate carrying the entire programming lineup of the network. Only the 4Kids TV lineup is preempted and instead is aired on sister CW affiliate KXVO.

On September 5, 2006, its DT2 subcarrier began carrying My Network TV programming. My Network TV programming is also seen in Omaha on KKAZ-CA, analog channel 24, which rebroadcasts KPTM's DT2 subcarrier.

KPTM also has significant viewership in Lincoln; in fact, the station has identified as "Omaha/Council Bluffs/Lincoln" for many years. It is the only major Omaha station that includes Council Bluffs--the second "major city" in the Omaha metro area--in its IDs on a regular basis.
