Kota is a place close to Kundapura near Udupi. The famous Kannada writer, novelist and Yakshgana exponent, K.Shivaram Karanth hails from this place. This place is very near to Arabian Sea, approximately 2 km. This place is approximately 24 km from Udupi and 12 km from Kundapur.
There are so many famous temples in this place. Some of them are, Saligrama Gurunarasimha Temple, Hire Mahalingeshwara Temple, Amritheshwari Temple, Bellada Ganapathi Temple etc. There is a famous college, Viveka Pre University College where more than 2000 students are studying. Kota is famous for its social activities also. There are so many Yakshagana artists, Drama artists who are basically from Kota are spreading their popularity across the globe.
Kota also has Kashi Mutt wherein Sri Muralidhara is worshiped. Goddess of Learning, Sharada Utsav is celebrated with great enthusiasm here in Navarathri. Also Genda is celebrated once in a year.
