Korea International School, also known as KIS, is a secular K-12 school. Its main campus is located in Bundang, South Korea, while the secondary campus (Preschool) is currently located in Gaepo Dong, South Korea. Classes are strictly in English and are college preparatory courses for Korean students aspiring to go to universities in the United States.

The main goal of KIS is to earn its reputation among students, parents, and the international educational community as a premier academy, first in Asia and, then, throughout the world. The mission statement of KIS is to inspire students with a passion for learning and to cultivate the competence, self-assurance, initiative, and creativity necessary for success in the global community.

The Korean Ministry of Education opened KIS on February 27, 1999, as a private school in Gaepo, Seoul, South Korea.

KIS had its first graduating class in the class of 2005-2006 with a graduating class of nine students.

As KIS was growing to fit the growing number of students, KIS moved its main campus to a secluded site in Bundang, South Korea for the 2006-2007 year.

1. Students must have foreign citizenships or live in foreign countries for 5 or more years or you can just buy a green card from a third world country who needs money.
2. Students must get an interview with the Admission Director.
3. Students must send their transcripts and report card to school.
4. Students must take an Admissions test in order to come in to the school.

[edit] Building & Facilities

KIS offers arguably one of the best campuses of Korea that provides proper learning environment and atmosphere. KIS is located in Bundang, a suburb south of Seoul. KIS consists of 3 buildings - the elementary school building, middle school building, and the high school building. All 3 buildings are connected together. The campus cost 40 million dollars and includes state-of-the-art facilities.

KIS athletic facilities include an indoor, heated, 5-lane, 25-meter swimming pool, soccer field with artificial turf, two gymnasiums, weight room, 4 squash courts, ping pong area, and state-of-the-art auditorium that are accessible to all students.

Hot meals are served everyday in the cafeteria, with sandwiches/snacks/drinks sold separately and vending machines found all over the school.

Every room has its own air conditioner and heater to use during the summer and winter. Additionally, all classrooms have their own projector. The science labs, music rooms, and classrooms are all state of the art classrooms.

[edit] English-Only policy

Students in KIS are forbidden to speak Korean. If caught by teachers, students are subject to punishments including warnings, after-school detentions, or even suspensions. The association of international schools believe that it is imperative to speak English in an international school, as it be beneficial to their mastery of the English language.

KIS (High School) is a member of KAIAC (Korean-American Interscholastic Activities Conference) Division I. The sports included are:

Fall: Cross-Country, Volleyball, Tennis.
Winter: Basketball, Cheerleading.
Spring: Soccer, Swimming, Swimming.

Prior to the year of 2007-2008, KIS was a Division II KAIAC school. But starting with the 2007-2008 year, KIS was promoted into a Division I KAIAC school. Since becoming a Division I KAIAC school, KIS has placed last in volleyball, basketball, and tennis.
