I am originally a Bostonian, and I am currently living in Boston, MA.

I studied at Georgetown University, and graduated in 2003 with a honors B.A. in history and government, my focuses being European and Asian history, and international relations.

I love history, philosophy, religion, economics, science, nature, food and drink...a little of everything. I try to be something of a centrist, but I am definitely an independent thinker (it kind of bugs me that there's even a freethought organization...) I go it alone and reach my own conclusions. I tend to read a lot of The Economist and Atlantic Monthly, and get most of my news from the BBC. But ultimately there's only so much of the real world a person can deal with at one time!

From 2004 to 2006 I was a Peace Corps volunteer, working with nonprofit organizations and teaching English in the city of Aktobe, Kazakhstan. I have a lovely and beautiful Kazakh wife, and yes we love eating beshbarmak and plov (sadly there is no horsemeat in Boston). We speak Russian, English, German and Kazakh, sometimes at the same time.

NB - I did misspell the Russian word for nomad in this account name, but that's because I'm a sloppy editor more than anything else.
