Kolalapudi is a very prosperous model village located 2.5 km from the busy National High Way No.5 in Martur mandal,in Prakasam district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India.Nearest towns are Chilakaluripet,Ongole and Guntur which are 25km, 45km and 60 km away from Kolalapudi respectively.
History:
Kolalapudi benefited from the irrigation facilities provided by the Nagarjunasagar canals. The fertile irrigated land and the seasonal vegetables farming and milk production were the major sources of prosperity of the village. Main Crop grown in the village is paddy and many farmers migrate seasonally to various parts of South India to grow Paddy and other commercial crops and they return to the home place after harvest and marketing. Eventually Kolalapudi diversified its wealth into business, granites, contracts and higher education.Kolalapudi counts among its natives some well-known farmers and educated people. Many villagers have regularly migrated to other States and even to foreign countries, mainly the United States.
Despite the village's diversification into urban economic activities and its residents' migration to far-off places, the villagers of Kolalapudi retained an active connection with the village by owning properties there, and some migrant farmers’ families continued to live there.
Today Kolalapudi has all modern amenities such as educational institutions,a veterinary hospital, telephone exchange and many religious temples.The Village is endowed with good atmosphere surrounded by greenery, water bodies, agriculture lands and a hill.
Transportation to Kolalapudi: The nearest railway station to Kolalapudi is at ongole. The nearest airport is at Vijayawada(90km).
There is regular bus service, run by both APSRTC (government) and private operators, from all major towns in Andhra Pradesh on NH:5. Kolalapudi can be reached from NH:5 in 10 minutes by hiring an auto rickshaw (available at all times of day).
