[edit] Please use edit summaries...

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. Awyong Jeffrey Mordecai Salleh 15:10, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] ...and preview your changes before saving

I would like to thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. However, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Thanks again. Awyong Jeffrey Mordecai Salleh 15:10, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your removal of {{wikify}} and {{unsourced}} tags

Please do not remove maintenance notices from pages unless the required changes have been made. If you are uncertain whether the page requires further work, or if you disagree with the notice, please discuss these issues on the page's talk page before removing the notice from the page. These notices and comments are needed to establish community consensus about the status of a page. Thank you. Awyong Jeffrey Mordecai Salleh 23:58, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Singapore birds

You are doing good work on this. I wonder if it would be an idea to split the article to produce one article about birding in Singapore, and another entitled List of Singapore birds or similar to be consistent with eg List of North American birds or list of birds of Costa Rica. What do you think? jimfbleak 16:08, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

OK, I've capped the bird names as per convention, moved the birds and mammals to the standard "list of..." format, fixed all the resulting redirects, and removed the clean-up notice, although I think there is still room for some improvement. The only question now is whether to split off the general birdwatching in Singapore from the list of species. jimfbleak 07:59, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
