[edit] Fair use for Karl Otto Koch

The copyright status of this photograph is uncertain and has probably lapsed as far as can be determined. It was taken probably in the early 1940's (before 1945). The author is unknown, subject matter is a war criminal and the copyright probably belongs to a defunct government entity (Nazi Germany). Nevertheless, the image linked here is claimed to be used under fair use as:

  1. It is a historically significant photo of a notable individual (Nazi concentration camp Commandant);
  2. There are no known public domain alternative photos of this individual.
  3. It is of much lower resolution (low resolution 72dpi JPEG format) than the original (copies made from it will be of very inferior quality)
  4. The photo is only being used for informational purposes.
  5. Its inclusion in the article adds significantly to the article because it shows the subject of this article.
