Kizukuri, Aomori

Kizukuri (木造町; -machi) was a town located in Nishitsugaru District, Aomori, Japan. On February 11, 2005 Kizukuri merged with four villages in Nishitsugaru forming the city Tsugaru. As a result of this merger the town no longer exists as an independent municipality.
As of 2003, the town had an estimated population of 19,193 and a density of 159.85 persons per km². The total area was 120.07 km².
Kizukuri has many festivals in the summer including the nebuta festival (held in other towns too) the nebuta festival is where certain districts of the town form teams who build large papier mache statues of warriors fighting monsters or other scenes including a dragon rising from the sea etc
