[edit] History
The event was founded in 2004 as an adjunct to the Visionz festival by long-time burner Mark "Yonderman" Stirling.[1] The 2005 and 2006 burns took place as stand-alone events in the South Island, moving to the present Whakamaru Domain site for the 2007 event, "Megamorphosis".[2]
The 2008 event, run by Kiwiburn Inc. and themed "CombustInUnity",[3] included an unexpectedly explosive burn.[4]
[edit] Culture
Notable, recurrent theme camps include "The Green Fairy", "The Pink Moa" and "Polly's Put the Kettle On".[5]
