Kirishima (霧島?) is an area in both Kagoshima Prefecture and Miyazaki Prefecture. It is known for its active volcanoes, volcanic lakes, and onsen.
Yakushima (屋久島?) is an island South of Kyushu in Kagoshima Prefecture. It is known for its Cryptomeria, which on the island are referred to as yakusugi (屋久杉?).
Kirishima was used as a filming location for the 1967 James Bond movie, You Only Live Twice.[1]
