Kirby Minter (born 1930, in Durant, Oklahoma) is a retired American basketball player. Minter graduated from Durant High School in 1947, and has recently been announced to be in the Durant Athletic Hall of Fame. January 4 has been named "Kirby Minter Day" in the city of Durant.
A 6'6" forward who played collegiately at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
As a member of a Peoria Caterpillars AAU team which comprised of the Caterpillar company's employees, he represented the United States men's national basketball team[1] to the 1954 FIBA World Championship and named Most Valuable Player of the competition. Kirby Minter scored 100 points (11.1 avg) during the tournament.[2]
