[edit] Discovery

According to this article, King Edward Point was "discovered by the Swedish Antarctic Expedition of 1901-04". According to the Grytviken article, Grytviken "was so named by a 1902 Swedish surveyor who found old English pots...". If there were "old" English pots at Grytviken in 1902 then wouldn't they have been left by earlier visitors (presumably sealers) quite some time before the 1901-04 expedition, and wouldn't those vistors have inevitably also "discovered" King Edward Point? I don't quite see how this chronology stacks up. Maybe I am getting confused. Matt 22:10, 2 June 2007 (UTC).

Nordensjkold wrote about it. Earlier sealers were not good at recording where they operated, presumably to keep good sites secret from competitors. PatLurcock 16:36, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
