[edit] Dead link

Looks like http://www.asrco.com/company/company1875-1915.htm link doesn't seem to work. Please check it

Well, looks like someone came through here and replaced every occurance of my name (Richard Brightwell) with "Scott Perry". Strange. Why would someone edit the conversation I had with John Owens years ago? Take a look at the history.

For the record... I wrote the original (pre-edits) Wikipedia article on King C. Gillette. I am and have always been the copyright holder. http://www.creekstone.net/razors/kingcampgillette.htm --Richard B. Brightwell 20 June 2005.

This information was posted by the original copyright holder, Richard B. Brightwell.

Are you willing to release it under the GFDL? -- John Owens 22:23 May 8, 2003 (UTC)
The other issue is, how do we know you're really, truly Mr. Brightwell? If Mr. Brightwell ever brought us to court for copyright infringement, it wouldn't look very good if we said "But, well, this anonymous contributor told us it was his....", would it? And by anonymous, I don't just mean getting a username, since that's no more guarantee that you're the Real Mr. B. I'm not sure, there hasn't been much talk about how to prove it, but one thing that should probably be sufficient to any reasonble person would be if you were to create a page on the creekstone.net site, that in some way lets us know it's you putting it there; perhaps by including your current IP in it or username if you choose to get one. Then give us a link to that. There are probably other ways, but that's the first one that comes to mind (perhaps not the simplest there is). -- John Owens 22:32 May 8, 2003 (UTC)

OK, that'll do nicely. :) Glad to see you specified "this page" on there, I was a bit concerned you might have done something that would accidentally make the whole site GFDL, or something like that; these things can be a bit tricky.
You do realize as well that, as the text on the edit page says, it's going "to be edited mercilessly and redistributed at will", right? And I'm one of the ones in line to edit it? It's not going to look quite the same after that. ;) -- John Owens 23:44 May 8, 2003 (UTC)
I like the changes you made. I look forward to seeing what others add to the page. I'm really glad to be able to contribute a bit, for two reasons: 1) I really enjoy using Wikipedea. It's a great idea and you guys are doing a good thing. 2) I'm so glad to help set the record straight about who invented the safety razor. If I get some more time I'll add a few paragraphs about Gillette unusual socialist ideas, or perhaps someone will beat me to it. :) Richard Brightwell 9 May 2003 3:12 UTC
Afraid I beat you to it (before I read your comments). Feel free to expand on them though Justinc 11:51, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I'm so glad to see people catching my mistakes and updating this page! Wiki rocks! :-) Richard Brightwell 25 May 2004 18:04 UTC
