King Lear in a 2009 film, announced at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival, rumoured to star Anthony Hopkins, Gwyneth Paltrow and Keira Knightley.[1][2][3][4][5] According to Screen Daily, "Joshua Michael Stern...adapted the screenplay and will direct and produce", "Ruby Films chief Alison Owen is in talks to produce and her colleague Paul Trijbits is in talk to serve as executive producer" and "CAA packaged and is selling the project".[6]

The $35 million film was announced at the Cannes Film Festival and will feature epic battle sequences, according to its makers,[8] and will be produced by Ruby Films.[9] The screenplay has been adapted by Joshua Michael Stern, who will also direct the project.
