Kim Butler

Kim D. Butler is an award-winning author and historian. Her major major work is Freedoms Given Freedoms Won: Afro-Brazilians in Post-Abolition San Paulo and Salvador. This publication won her the American Historical Association's Wesley-Logan Prize and the Association of Black Women Historians' Letitia Woods Brown Prize. Currently, Butler is an associate professor of history and chair of the Africana Studies department at Rutgers University.
