[edit] Christian Metal?
i know that jesse leech was a christian, and he's not in the band anymore, but i was listening to end of heartache a few days ago and some of the lyrics sounded an awful lot like they were about jesus and shit, should we add the CM tag to the article? has the band made any statements (since howard came on board) regarding this? i'd find it hard to believe inthat they're touring with/toured with machine head and lamb of god, but like i said, some of the post leech lyrics still seem to be about christianity. andi don't know howard jones personally so it's not like i can ask him.69.212.156.19 01:29, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
yes actually in an interview (sorry i cant cite it) done in italy when they were touring over there howard makes the statement that the band has always put "positive" lyrical content in their music. the lyrics from both the End of Heartache and the As Daylight Dies album are far to similar to christian ideals to be considered anything else but christian. i have yet to find a direct statement that says that the band is christian, but i believe this is due to the fact that the band does not practice any particular religion and also drinks which is something that "christian" bands dont do. the albums all talk about the rapture(as daylight dies), being reunited with him, maintaining faith (this fire burns), always being with "him" (jesus/god), the crusifixion (rose of sharyn), and other things like that. sorry this isn't cited info, but im just throwing that stuff out there.
before this section was deleted off the main page of Killswitch Engage i remeber seeing that it said all the members were at some point raised christian. also as a side note, the only two songs i can find that aren't christian really are My Curse (As daylight dies) which is obviously a love song, and Holy Diver, which is a cover from the origonal done by Dio.
[edit] genre
what condom wrote Thrash Metal further down this page? i suppose mcr are symphonic grindcore then:P on a serious note they are metalcore. Traditional Metal + Hardcore (more screams etc) = Metalcore which combines singing and screaming, slightly harder than traditional heavy metal, and thats exactly what they do :DAdil Ghanty 20:23, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed. They have a hardcore (metalcore) sound a lot like later Hatebreed but with more melodic guitar work along the lines of Shadows Fall. glocks out 23:59, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
-
- Please note that I have put Melodic Metalcore as their genre. If you need further overlook on this dilemma, please inform me. RaikiriChidori 19:28, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] I deleted something about the Taste Of chaos DVD, Saying that its a group DVD and its not a killswitch engage dvd
I messed Something up on the page, i dont kow what happend but now the page is REALLY wide, Someone Fix?
have changed the location of the Roadrage tour to include UK. if memory serves me correctly they played in the UK with the new line up
Meaning of name: It may have other meanings, but people I know use "kill switch" to mean an device which shuts off machinery in an emergency, e.g. a switch on a boat or jetski that attaches by a cord to the belt and stops the engine if the pilot goes overboard.
-- I added a mention of the name being similar to that of Kill Switch...Click, who preceded Killswitch Engage by about a decade, and noted that the official explanation doesn't do much to allay concerns that they basically ripped off the name of their band from another band.--
Im going to remove all the song titles from the albums. Doesn't add that much and looks really ugly. Its all available on the album link or elsewhere on the net.
Don't know if you realized this, but Kill Switch isn't exactly original, and they said they named it after an X-Files episode the bassist saw... no one has concerns they ripped off anyones name, who have you been speaking to? Also, the only Kill Switch I've heard of came after KSE.Mphudson 16:22, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] pics
we should have more pics. the end of heartache has really cool artwork.
[edit] Metal Community
Who Erased my thing on metal community? Its True and its cited, it shouldnt have been erased
[edit] What the heck?
What is that "Soon To Take Over The World!" Myspace link doing. Unless it has any relivance to anything Killswitch Engage oriented, it has got to go. And, sadly for the artist who that belongs to, that link has nothing to do with this article or even the band. Therefore, I say unto yee Myspace link, "Be smited, that of infernal nothingness! Begone!" OmniAngel 17:33, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Melodic Death Metal?
Someone please explain, since when do they play melodeath?
I guess they're not melodic death, but I don't think it's accurate to call them only metalcore. I consider them to have a lot of thrash elements.
Thrash Metal, not scremo to everyone who says they are, they switch between normal singing and screming so they cant be scremo.
plus do ur research peeps they are offcialy a thrash metal band
- Definitely not a Thrash Metal band. Do they sound like Metallica? They have a sound much like later Hatebreed but with more melodic guitar work like Shadows Fall. That is, they have a traditional metalcore sound with melodic death metal influence. No thrash involved.glocks out 00:02, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
-
- They are neither thrash or melodic death. As a matter of fact they are melodic metalcore. I have officialy put that as their genre. So unless you can think of a better genre for them, all I can say is, "Thank you and goodnight." ;) RaikiriChidori 19:26, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Screamo
im such a dumbass
Meh KSE are too heavy to be screamo what do they have in common with emo? (by the way screamo is a sub-genre of emo) Kerrang don't really know band genre as well as people make them out mate like the time they said Queen are punk. Paladin91 21:10, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- To be safe, I think it should just be metalcore (for now).
AKnot 01:07, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
thrash metal is what they are
the band is official marked as a thrash metal band 'end of story'
By who? They are heavily influenced by 'SwedeCore', (Death metal and HardCore), and then heavily by Thrash Metal. Thrash Metal with Metalcore elements. Not at all Screamo.. But very FashionCore.
How can they be screamo when they have POSITIVE lyrics? James25402 19:37, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
See citation in above section. RaikiriChidori 19:41, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
They're emocore, officially. 144.131.36.143 (talk) 08:19, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] This Fire Burns on GH2
Someone made a custom song on Guitar Hero II which is "This Fire Burns" on YouTube. Jay B. 20:22, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Oh never mind, after I saw that like HALF OF THE ROCKS SONGS IN THE WORLD were made into custom GH songs, drop it. you're not colorblind, it's colored this way. Misteryoshi 18:57, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Main part of the article
I added some subheadings just to split it up and make it easier to read, but I'm not to happy with the titles... someone wanna adjust them? --Nzhamstar 03:27, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] All That Remains
How come All That Remains are on the Associated Acts? --124.187.135.54 03:13, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
- well mike produced their album and phil labonte was almost KSE's second vocalist.

[edit] logo
why is their logo a .png image when they've released an vector based image? [2] Balthazar (talk) 03:23, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Pete Cortese
I'm removing all mentions of this guy because i can't find any reliable sources saying he was in the band. Please provide a source and i will re-edit the article appropriately. M3tal H3ad (talk) 02:43, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
(Set This) World ablaze CLEARLY has him as a previous member, he left the band because his wife was having a child. They did a segment on it where they showed footage of him at his last show, + he is interviewed about the band.

[edit] GA nomination on hold
Please leave a note on my talk page when you're done with this stuff - cheers, — Dihydrogen Monoxide 09:24, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- Can the band member's names be wlinked in the infobox image caption?
- "Formed in 1999 following the disbandment of the bands Overcast and Aftershock" - Aftershock (Aftershock (band)) needs a wlink here
- "and although the album was not an initial financial success or entered any charts" - Change "or entered any charts" to "and did not chart"
- "Severson who works as a website developer at Roadrunner Records, handed Killswitch Engage to several Roadrunner Record representatives" - Put a comma after "Severson", before "who"
- Is there no more information about their first (self titled) album then the fact that they...well...made one? There really isn't much there at the moment :(
- "and increased the band's exposure and peaking at number 37 on the Top Heatseekers chart" - reword to "and increased the band's exposure, peaking at number 37 on the Top Heatseekers chart"
- Ref 11 - Can you get a backup for the Amazon ref (just that I've been using them a fair bit recently with mixed results in terms of correctness =/) - IMDB should be OK if the content is the same.
- "Following the 2003 Ozzfest, drummer Gomes left the band to live with his wife, pursue his band Something of a Silhouette, and was tired of touring." - Reword --> "Following the 2003 Ozzfest, drummer Gomes left the band as he wished to spend more time with his wife, to pursue his band Something of a Silhouette, and because he was tired of touring."
- For ref 16 you should also be able to access the band/album history (on australian-charts.com, which I've memorised completely by now :P), so you could also use that as a source for the album's entire time on the chart (just so that the ref is more useful for the reader)
- Ref 17 doesn't actually point to a page specifically about the band/album
- "Receiving mostly positive reviews, Jon Caramanica of Rolling Stone" - This seems to imply that the Rolling Stone reviewer received mostly positive reviews. Reword to "The album received mostly positive reviews, with Jon Caramanica of Rolling Stone". Speaking of which, is there a source for this review?
- Does ref 20 cover the material being cited...?
- Ref for the Billboard chart position for As Daylight Dies?
- In ref 23, Stylus Magazine should be wlinked
- Ref 25 needs publisher/author
- "peaked at number 13 number 19 on the Mainstream Rock charts" - Um...?
- "due to back problems from Adam" - Dutkiewicz, not Adam
- Ref 27 - NME should be wlinked as the publisher
- "guitarist for Diesel Machine and Halford.Dutkiewicz recovered" - There needs to be a space after the full stop
- Might wanna mention in the "Current members" section that Dutkiewicz was originally the drummer
- For the MySpace EL, use the {{MySpace}} template

- A few of these things were taken care following the peer review, i can't link to a specific band on the RIAA database, it has to be searched. Taken care of the others, thanks! M3tal H3ad (talk) 11:23, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Opening line
Do we really think it's necessary to state 'often abbreviated to Killswitch? Yes, of course there will be plenty of journalists and fans that will do this for shorthand, but it would look ridiculous if we added 'Black Sabbath, often abbreviated to Sabbath', or 'Iron Maiden, often abbreviated to Maiden'. Blackmetalbaz (talk) 09:09, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
Not exactly. Official abbreviation seems to be KSE. That's all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Talvimiekka (talk • contribs) 19:25, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Joel Stroetzel
It says that NME has reported Stroetzel leaving the band...I haven't seen anything anywhere on that. Can someone clarify? I just checked NME, and I'll be damned, but I didn't see that news anywhere. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Matx33 (talk • contribs) 00:25, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
Yeah no sign of that either. i'm going to go ahead and get rid of it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.29.189.207 (talk) 01:19, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Name ambiguity
I saw that someone claimed that they added content to clarify the distinction between this band and Kill Switch...Click, but I don't see it in the article. Normally I don't think that disambiguation is all that important for band names (e.g., this is "Pink", not "Pink Floyd"!). But in this case I think it should be at least mentioned, because of the similarity of genre and because both bands have made it into the relatively small group of "more well known" category of said genres.
I for one specifically looked up this article to see whether or not the two bands were related!
