[edit] Wind farm controversy
In the mid 1990s, Kibby Mountain entered the public spotlight when a wind farm was proposed for the mountain and neighboring peaks. The project was subject to much public debate in the 1990s and 2000s and has gone through a number of revisions. The latest (2006) 44-turbine proposal, while widely accepted among many former opponents, was still opposed by the advocacy group Friends of the Boundary Mountains in 2007.
