[edit] Kay Hammond

Halliwell only lists one Kay Hammond, the British one. However she was in the film "Children of Chance" which was made in Britain & issued in 1930 , the same year as "Abraham Lincoln".

It is unlikely that a new actress would be able to be in Hollywood in the same year. I therefore believe that the IMDb version is correct.

I have checked a couple of other sources that I own ("Chronicle of the Cinema" & "Fifty Years Decline & Fall of Hollywood"), but neither of them mention a Kay Hammond in Griffith's 'Abe'. Sorry I can not help more than this. Don Joseph (DonJay)

Further to the Kay Hammond querie. There seems to be considerable confusion on the various site of the internet giving her biography. Many site seem to consider only one person. Of course, the IMDb gives two seperate biographies, one US, the British. I have not seen the film "Abraham Lincoln", so I can not judge by appearance. But it would appear that the more likely actress to portray Mrs Lincoln, would be a 30 year old American rather than a 21 year old Briton. The latter came from an acting family, the Standing's & her mother was also an actress, so she was certainly capable of acting the part. You have got me interested in this, & Iwould appreciate that if you find any definative information, that you let me know. I have some old "Film Reveiws" from the 1940s & will do a search of them. As far as I know it is even possible to download this movie. It seems to be Public Domain. Maybe I will go to that length. :-) Khero 18:17, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
