Coordinates: 29°17′N 77°43′E / 29.28, 77.72 Khatauli is a city and a municipal board in Muzaffarnagar district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is located on NH-58 between Muzaffarnagar and Meerut.

There are a number of contradicting stories about where the name "Khatauli" came from. the name But the name is actually derived from the name of Sant Khataulladin.But it also has been told that this part of land has been donated to a Wali (Sant) so it is called as Khitta-E-Wali.We find out the rest house (Sarai)build by Shanhjanha and Shiv Temple by Marathas.Khatauli was the centre for marketing from the grounds of Ganga to Yamuna. Khatauli is blessed by somany real sants from all the religions we can salute to Swami Paglacharyaji Ghummakdamcant Shri Sunder Lal ji Swami Rudradevji Swamji Ambale Wale

Khatauli is famous for chaat (spicy food).But you cant get salted Golgappe

Khatauli has one of the biggest sugarcane mills in Asia, run by Triveni Engineering and Industries[1]. It also has small cottage industries for tractor pulleys and diesel engine parts.some times you may hear this is the crime industries

Khatauli is a town where people of many religions live in harmony. If you look around, you can easily find places of worship belonging to different religions.During 1947 punjabi community made this town glorious but later most of punjabi families migrated from khatauli.Now it is based on local Hindu and Muslims

As Khatauli is a small rural town, there are not many tourist attractions per se. Since it is located on the banks of the upper Ganga canal, this is the main attraction here.

There are two beautiful motels located on the Ganga named "Cheetal" and "Cheetal Grand." Cheetal is run by the UP Forest Department and Cheetal Grand by a private owner. These two parks attract lot of travelers from NH 58. There are no hotel facilities to stay in Khatauli itself.

Every year there is a famous carnival in Khatauli called Mela Shravni, held near the temple of Goga Jaharvir. This carnival starts at Rakha Bandhan (a Hindu festival) and runs for a month. It is also famous for the market of donkeys you can buy and hire from the local market.May be it famous as Khoto-wali.

Jain Mandi, Rajaram Mandi, Jansath Road, Bada Bazar, Bidi Bara, G.T. Road and New Mandi are the markets and trading centers in Khatauli. Jansath Road chopla is the main center of Khatauli city.The most popular market is Ashoka Market. Khatauli is also famous for chaat.
