Kharkhari is a census town in Dhanbad district in the Indian state of Jharkhand.

As of 2001 India census[1], Kharkhari had a population of 5,653. Males constitute 55% of the population and females 45%. Kharkhari has an average literacy rate of 55%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 66%, and female literacy is 42%. In Kharkhari, 17% of the population is under 6 years of age.
