[edit] Binding of Isaac article name change

Five editors have responded to my proposal to change the name of the article Binding of Isaac to "Sacrifice of Isaac" at Talk:Binding of Isaac#Name of this article. Four oppose and one is neutral. The consensus is opposed to the name change. I'll therfore leave the article as currently named ("Binding of Isaac") and consider the matter closed. Thanks for your participation! --Bryan H Bell (talk) 03:15, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Reply

Well, I didn't think it should be controversial, it appears straightforward to me. Not every action in Israel/Palestine can be subject to insane disagreement, surely...?--Relata refero (disp.) 22:38, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

See, now I had no idea it had been prod-ded before. Well, it appears to me that there are no sources provided about the term, but only sources that use it. This means it fails WP:NEO. Relata refero (disp.) 22:49, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
In what context? I suppose an article about pre-Herzl Zionism might conceivably exist, either under this name, or more probably with a redirect from here to that article; but an article about current sympathies for Palestinian groups or ideologies? I don't know, it seems we already have a lot of those under various names... --Relata refero (disp.) 23:01, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
  1. I've done some more looking, and it seems that I can justify removing the prod and replacing it with a redirect to History of Zionism.
  2. About modern usage: Well, it seems rare in reliable sources. Here's what I suggest: work on an article in your userspace on modern Western sympathy for Palestine; when it passes stub-stage, we can look at it again. About other articles, aside from related ones like Islamophilia, Allegations of Israeli Apartheid, Criticism of Zionism and New Anti-semitism, I find it difficult to see anything going into this proposed article that wouldn't be covered in Media coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Relata refero (disp.) 23:18, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
A good way of limiting ghits to reliable sources, such as we should be using, is search Google books instead. When you do that, you'll see that the use of the term in reliable sources trends very heavily in the opposite direction. We can put a line above the History of Zionism article saying "Palestinophilia redirects here. Perhaps you are looking for..." Relata refero (disp.) 23:33, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
Can I think about it and get back to you in a bit? Perhaps I should do more reading. Relata refero (disp.) 23:40, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Babel

Hi. Its based on Hebrew Wikipedia, (see ex. here), and the idea the websites in Hebrew reverse everything. Regards Epson291 (talk) 06:44, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Yes, but it makes it more odd to read. I'm not sure if anyone else prefers it that way, no one has commented yet (till you). Epson291 (talk) 06:54, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
