Please someone elaborate these 2 contradictory views:

However, Conde later retracted this statement, confessing that his prank was during manoeuvres, which never take place in the Christmas break. Ergo, he was mistaken about the time of his prank. ^[1]

There are some issues with the above - Conde never retracted his statements. Conde never said he was the source of the incident, only that he played a practical joke on a gate guard that has striking similarities to the "incident", and in the same general time period. People are free to draw their own conclusions about whether this was a UFO or a practical joke gone bad.
