At the tender age of 7 Kersha Bailey began filled the family home in North London with musical vocal tones that belied her age. Soon after she began writing her own songs, enthralling family, friends and visitors.
At school Kersha excelled in drama with teachers singing her praises at every opportunity. Her first performance was as the lead in ‘Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat’ a school production at Welbourne Primary School. The performance was a success and encouraged Kersha to start singing in school choir and plays. At the age of nine Kersha’s mother noticed her creative talents and enrolled her at Mountview Academy of Theater Arts.
Fast forward eight years later, Kersha enrolled at City & Islington College studying popular music. At City & Islington she honed her performance skills, broadening her repertoire to include Rock, Jazz, Bangra as well as her first love Soul. At college she grew an interest in the guitar as her second instrument, in doing so her first acoustic performance was ‘Autumn Leaves’ which she had re-arranged and composed differently from the original Eva Cassidy.
Over the years Kersha has developed a three octave vocal range with a soulful, colorful style. Her influences are diverse and include Lauren Hill, Coldplay Jill Scott as well as many others. In a move to enhance her music Kersha turned her hand to music producing, to develop an in-depth understanding.
Over time Kersha has performed at Tottenham Carnival, Rise Festival, Shoreditch Carnival, Hackney Empire, The Royal Albert Hall and for MPs in Covent Garden. She has also had an article in the Tottenham Journal and the Hackney Gazette.
