Keoua Hale
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Keoua Hale was the palace of Princess Ruth Ke'elikÅlani at 1302 Queen Emma Street in downtown Honolulu, Hawai'i. It was larger than Iolani Palace.
In the Spring of 1884 the Princess Ruth completed a handsome residence on Emma Street, and gave a grand luau to celebrate the event. This was followed by a splendid ball in the evening, which was attended by all the best society of Honolulu, whether of native or foreign birth. But after this festivity the princess was taken suddenly ill, and left for Kailua on Hawaii in hopes that the journey would restore her health. She received every attention, but did not recover; and on the twenty-forth day of May her remains were brought back to Honolulu, and laid in state in the handsome new house, Keouahale. It was later inherited by Princess Bernice Pauahi and she died in that house.[1]
Today, the site of Keoua Hale is occupied by Central Middle School [1].
