Assessment Drive
Yes I think that competitive edge is kicking in again - must go get some more done today....
But of course its all for the greater good of the Biography Assessment Drive, so its all worth it in the end!--Heidijane 11:17, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

City of Ainsworth footnotes etc
I do like those simplified footnotes and cite web formats better. I just did the same with the Moyie (sternwheeler) and New Hazelton, British Columbia. Looks way better and will probably be easier to manage in the future as the articles grow and links/sources change.CindyBotalk 04:58, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
- Also notice you have done the same at Steamboats of the Upper Fraser River in British Columbia. Looks professional.--KenWalker | Talk 07:26, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
Thanks
Just wanted to say I noticed you giving me a hand with formatting and proofreading over at Henry Pering Pellew Crease, and I appreciate it. Stevecudmore 18:16, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

I see you got figured it out! You are one of the few that has actually employed that template to good use since its creation.--Fuhghettaboutit 04:25, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, and it is a dandy solution to vexing little problem. Thanks for doing it.--KenWalker | Talk 04:31, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- You're welcome, though I didn't create the template. I had a problem in search of a solution at Glossary of cue sports terms and another user created it in response to my grumbling on the talk page:-)--Fuhghettaboutit 05:20, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
Your GA nomination of BX (sternwheeler)
The article BX (sternwheeler) you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold.
It hasn't failed because it's basically a good article, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:BX (sternwheeler) for things needed to be addressed. Mouse Nightshirt | talk 00:57, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- If there's none to be found, then there's none to be found. To be perfectly honest, that would be ideal rather than necessary; there are enough positive references to suggest that there wasn't very much criticism. I've had a look at the article and it does look considerably better. I'll re-review tomorrow if you want and pass it if it's reached GA standard. Thanks for your hard work, and extend this thanks to CindyBo as well! Mouse Nightshirt | talk 21:08, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- Something I forgot to mention: the infobox data on the ship characteristics needs referenced as well. Sorry about that! Mouse Nightshirt | talk 21:13, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- All of the data for the infobox can be found on page 227 of the "west" reference. It's the first page of the Appendix. Does that one reference suffice? I'll add it later if so, for now, I have to go to work for the evening.CindyBotalk 22:43, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- One reference is fine - as long as it applies to all the data on the table. Mouse Nightshirt | talk 12:59, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- I added it and yes, it does apply to everything in infobox. It's a short summary of all the ship's characteristics, as well as the launch date, builder, owners, captain and demise.CindyBotalk 17:31, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- I've had another look today and I still see quite a few unreferenced statements. For example, the first section in the "Construction" section. I'm aware that reference #3 may apply to all of this, but it's not made implicitly clear. Ideally, each claim needs to be sourced. For example:
- "Captain Browne worked with Alexander Watson throughout the design and construction phases of the BX."
- "Watson purchased the BX's boiler, engines and other equipment from the Chicago Marine Ironworks Company"
- "...the heaviest piece was less than 10,000 lbs..."
- These are only examples, but it shows what I'm ideally looking for. I wouldn't necessarily expect every single thing to be sourced for GA standard, but pretty much all of it does have to be. Hope this helps. Mouse Nightshirt | talk 19:44, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- I added 12-15 more references, including a few from local newspapers to back up the primary sources. I think I have it covered, but if I don't, let me know and I can add more. I was looking at one sentence in the 5th paragraph of the route section: At the time it seemed the future of upper Fraser sternwheelers seemed assured And the very last sentence: In Prince George a model of the BX .... Now they don't look right to me, and I can't cite them, really, although they're true. If you feel they're original research, I can erase them. Thanks for your advice, Mouse Nightshirt, and the review!CindyBotalk 21:47, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- Not a problem at all, it's great to be able to discuss improvements with authors of articles calmly! In reference to your question there, basically, anything that can be challenged/called into question needs a citation. If you can't provide one, then unfortunately, it has to go. I mean, you could take a photo of it, but you'd need a reference to say that the model is the ship rather than randomly being named the same. Silly I know, but that's how it is. You've mostly got this article nailed anyway, but for future reference, I advise you have a look at WP:CITE for the policies on what to reference. Hope this helps! Jeremy Bamber
Hello. You assessed the Jeremy Bamber article for Wikipedia:WikiProject Criminal Biography as low-importance. As the case is well-known in the UK and has been a live national news story for more than twenty years, I should have thought it was at least mid? (I'm leaving a note here as I haven't found a page for discussing assessments for this WikiProject). Regards, Xn4 14:53, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, Makes sense to me. Actually it was another editor who made the assessment you refer to though, I only did the WP:BIO assessment. Cheers, --KenWalker | Talk 15:35, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for that, though it does seem it was your assessment, at this edit? Anyway, I wouldn't wish to assess the article, but if you're happy you may feel like amending. Regards, Xn4 20:13, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
- The edit you link to above was, as I said above, the WPBio assessment that I did. I have looked at it again and it seems to me to be correctly assessed based on the assessment practices of that project. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Criminal Biography rating that you have indicated a concern about and which appears here was done by User:Jmm6f488. I have not been involved in that project and do not feel comfortable changing the assessment of this article by someone who I expect is more familiar with the matter and the project than I am. Sorry. --KenWalker | Talk 02:17, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
