Ken Gornstein

Ken Gornstein has served since September 2007 as assistant vice president of communications at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts. He directs university publications, university photography and videography, Brandeis University Magazine and the design and content components of the university Web site.

Gornstein joined the Brandeis community in August 2005 as director of communications. Before that, he worked for 14 years in various capacities in the Office of University Relations at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.

Gornstein began his professional career in 1981 as a reporter and sports editor for the Towne Courier, a weekly newspaper in East Lansing, Michigan. He also served as editor of The Beacon newspaper in Maynard, Massachusetts (1984 to 1986), and as a reporter for the Medford Daily Mercury in Medford, Massachusetts (1986 to 1990).

He is a 1980 graduate of Michigan State University, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism.

He is married to Susan Piland, executive editor of Northeastern University Alumni Magazine.
