[edit] Editors Censure Again
Hello Kelly, I agreed to not post the fatboy.cc link after you sided with the "editors", and have not. I recently wrote a paragraph on the Palm Beach Rape Incident which Ted Kennedy was quite involved in. The "editors" immediately deleted my work. The entire paragraph was deleted. This had no external link until a source was requested., it was all written fact. Forget the 3rr rule, it seems to not to apply to them. We are now at the real issue. These "editors" are left wing fanatics that will only allow their POV of Ted Kennedy to be presented. The Palm Beach Rape was national and international news. I again ask you assistance in this matter. I have requested page protection and it is now locked. These "editors" have extreme bias and make a mockery of presenting the subject in a neutral light. As to the other IP address invloved, I have no connection with them. I suggest someone put up a trap and find out who it is.
[edit] End
Well, it is obvious that you are not going to respond to me, I have lost hope that you have not seen my posts. If you are going to reply, and real life prevents you from contacting me, I am sorry. I don't understand your actions, as ignoring a user completly is not civil, and, IMO, not following WP:TRI. You seem like a good admin and user, but this action seems to be different from how you have acted in the past. You have lost my respect. I'm sorry. Howabout1 Talk to me! 04:03, August 1, 2005 (UTC)
Argh, I can't leave you alone. It is just so hard to understand how someone so respected by the community and toting four awards could just run away from a problem. Are you scared I'll yell at you? Do you think me a troll? (I really hope I don't give that impression). You contribute to and strongly beleive in WP:TRI (I know I've mentioned it three times), which says to be civil. All I'm asking for is saying "No. I'm not going to respond.-Kelly Martin" (though I'd like more). You can even e-mail me. You can contact me on simple. You could hunt me down in real life, ok maybe not that. Okay, I'm really eager for adminship. Does that make me a horrible person not worthy of your time? I've certainly taken up a lot of it if you've been reading these posts. I just don't understand your actions. Howabout1 Talk to me! 01:47, August 3, 2005 (UTC)
Sorry. I am persistant. I'm very happy. Now I feel like more of an idiot. I'm using lots of sentances. I was looking for something that you agree with "I would like to ask that you do not judge me entirely on this one event. I am not asking that you support me in the far future, you have every right to oppose, but I ask that you do not change your entire opinion of me (if you had one before). I did not put Anti-Anonymex2 up to nominating me, but it is understandable that you think so." I was insulted with you accusing me of putting up Anti-Anonymex2. So again, really sorry. I'll just forget this whole event, and maybe you will too. A lot of the reason that I figured you were ignoring me is you replyed to other people and voted on RfA's etc. You also didn't reply to Anti-Anonymex2, so I figured you didn't like talking about the RfA. To sum it all up, sorry, I realise now you're a good person, sorry, I'm an idiot, thanks for replying, sorry, disregard all that I said above, sorry, please reply again with what I said above, I'll leave you alone, and oh, did I mention I'm sorry. Howabout1 Talk to me! 02:18, August 3, 2005 (UTC)
Now I'm groveling. I am truly sorry. Not "see how many times I can say sorry to get a point across" sorry, but a real "how do you put up with me and my impatiant whining" sorry. Anyway if you could just realise I didn't put up Anti-Anonymex2 to niminating me, I'd be a lot happier. I'll leave you alone now even if you don't reply. For the last time unless I have an editing problem that involves you, Howabout1 03:37, August 6, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] kmccoy's RFA
Hello, karynn,
Thanks for your support on my RFA, and especially the use of an acronym. Acronyms really are the beginning of wisdom. kmccoy (talk) 04:13, 3 August 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for supporting my recent RfA. I was surprised and humbled by the number of positives votes. I'll be monitoring RfA regularly from now on and will look for a chance to "pay it forward". Cheers, --MarkSweep 02:37, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Religion and schizotypy VfD
Hi... a while back you reverted (and protected) the fork file Missing Sun myth when it was going through VfD and people kept removing the header and redirecting it before the vote was completed. Today the same situation is going on with Religion and schizotypy, with some editors who voted to merge/redirect going ahead and doing so (thus removing the tag) before VfD is closed, even though the votes are clearly showing a wide consensus to delete it completely. A number of admins had already voted on it so I tried to think of someone who wasn;t involved to step in and take care of it, and I remembered you. I would be appreciative if you could come in and do the same thing you did previously under the similar circumsances. DreamGuy 03:05, August 8, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Can you help?
Hello Kelly. I'd like to nominate somebody as an administrator but as it's been some time since I last used Wikipedia (under a different name) I'm having trouble remembering links. How exactly do i go about nominating somebody? Let me know on my talk page. Thanks. Wikiwoohoo 21:24, 8 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Schools
Just thought I'd give you a heads up, Durveck School which you voted to delete has come back up for Vfd for the same reasons as before at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Duveneck School (2nd Nom.). Gateman1997 19:23, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
- My apologies on soliciting you. Tony Sidaways and I have worked out a compromise as a result of the dispute with has effectively neutralized the "schoolwatch" debate. It is now NPOV. Gateman1997 18:03, 11 August 2005 (UTC)
- While merging Duveneck School might be a worthwhile cause after the VfD in my personal opinion, I don't know if it would be advisable. But if you think you can pull it off then by all means be Bold.Gateman1997 17:57, 12 August 2005 (UTC)
Kelly, while I think there are many cases where a school should be merged either into a community page (see what I did with Evanston, Illinois) or into a school district page, I think that where there are some schools with relatively nice articles and some schools with nothing but red links (like the Palo Alto school district), merger can be a bad thing for the overall readability of the article. The idea of a merge is that the useful information is retained. It's up to you, but I think Duveneck School is a case where merger is probably not a good thing. DS1953 22:05, August 12, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia is not a game of Nomic
I added this to WP:NOT#Wikipedia is not a game of Nomic. I think it was you who originally said this, but I could be wrong. Please correct me if this duplicates something I'm not aware of. --MarkSweep 06:41, 12 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Problem with a user you formerly dealt with
I noticed that in the past you dealt with user 64.142.89.105. Well he's vandalising articles again, see System Of A Down And it's history and whatnot. Just thought you might like to know. lynch 11:16, 15 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] RfArb
In case you didn't noticed, Theo Clarke opened an Request for Arbitration for Keetoowah about ten days ago: Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration#Keetoowah. Two ArbCom members have voted to accept it, but much to my astonishment, two others have voted to reject it. I know you were thinking along these lines awhile ago -- care to add your voice? It would be helpful. I am contemplating adding a comment or two as well. -- Viajero | Talk 20:58, 15 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Random questions
Would anybody care about Ward Churchill if it weren't for Bill O'Reilly making such a big deal out of him?
Now, on to important things, something I was asked by a colleague, and you might know: How to use i.e. and e.g. together properly, as in this example that was posed to me:
[company name] has indicated that our routing problems, i.e. our inability to reach some websites, e.g. [company1].com and [company2].com, have been resolved.
Wahkeenah 02:38, 19 August 2005 (UTC)
Thank you for your excellent advice. I also tend to use i.e. and e.g. more than I ought, I reckon. However, I'm also mindful of this Groucho Marx bit, where he's dictating a letter to his lawyer: "Gentlemen, question mark, in re: yours of the 5th inst., i.e., to wit, e.g., in lieu, etc." ...
What I probably should have said was, would there be all the attention paid to Ward Churchill, if it weren't for O'Reilly using him as one of his long list of straw men, for which Churchill seemed to have taken the bait. O'Reilly's pretty good at that sort of thing. That makes his program entertaining, in a perverse way. I keep expecting to see Mr. Bill have a stroke on the air someday when he gets off on one of his rages about something. But to my mind, he's mostly a muckraker. I like to say about O'Reilly that you can take the boy out of "Inside Edition", but you can't take the "Inside Edition" out of the boy. :) Wahkeenah 03:09, 19 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Revert
[1] Hay, you stole my revert. :) Do you have any idea why this happens, I revert it by hand, get no edit conflict screen, only to find out in the history someone rolled it back. Does rollback automaticly override by-hand reverts? Should I use the help desk? Howabout1 Talk to me! 04:32, August 20, 2005 (UTC)
Thanks. It's happened to me a few times, I don't really mind. Happy editing. Howabout1 Talk to me! 04:38, August 20, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Criticisms of communism
I have no objection to mediation. I understand that my idea of NPOV is subject to criticism, as is everyone else's: perhaps a fresh perspective will help cut through, and we can end up with a really good article. I would be interested in actively participating, provided that having four parties will not overwhelm you. I hope that this is the appropriate means to communicate this consent: I have only been actively editing for a couple of months, and haven't had to go through this before. Robert A West 18:02, 22 August 2005 (UTC)
I will be happy to accept mediation. I would also accept mediation for Democratic peace theory, which includes some of the same editors, and on which mediation was requested more than a month ago. I don't think I can fairly speak for any other editor on this, or that they can speak for me.
The central issue is this, from my PoV: Ultramarine wishes the article to be a criticism of communism, as his edit summaries show. (See page history) The rest of us agree that his edits have reached this goal, but we regard it as advocacy. He has been repeatedly invited to edit the same version as the other editors, but he chooses to revert to what he calls "his" "critical" version. (See edit summaries, talk page, and page protection request.)
All else is detail. Specific disputes will be found in the last section of the talk page. Septentrionalis 18:06, 22 August 2005 (UTC)
(I am used to getting replies on my talk page, and it looks like you may be too; but I can adjust if convenient.) Septentrionalis
Unfortunately, I do not consider the dispute mediatable anymore. I have already for two and half months tried to present referenced facts and asked for the same when discussing. However, the other side does not respond to such arguments. Thus, I prefer the arbitration process to continue. I have stated this on the arbitration page. Ultramarine 08:32, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
- Odd, he was adamantly in favor of mediation last week.[2] If Ultramarine changes his mind next week,or next month, my acceptance stands. Septentrionalis 13:50, 24 August 2005 (UTC)
- I find his sudden refusal odd and surprising, and I don't see what arbitration will accomplish that mediation cannot. Should he change his mind again, my acceptance also stands. Robert A West 21:31, 24 August 2005 (UTC)

- I am out of town and have only occasional access to a computer with an internet connection, which is why I haven't participated in the debate over the past few days or commented on the mediation and arbitration. But now that I have a chance to speak for a bit, I wish to affirm that I would absolutely support and go along with mediation. -- Mihnea Tudoreanu 02:04, 26 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Request for help
Hello Kelly, I've a question to ask. I see that you in the past have flagged up POV concerns about fathers rights, and that there is a user who consistently denies that the page is POV. I've decided to have a go at the page, as I know a little about the issues, and try to make it more neutral in tone and more comprehensive in terms of content, and to do a bit of clean-up. How do you recommend dealing with the user in question, and would you be able to keep a watching brief on what's going on over there as I try to clean up the page? If this isn't how Wikipedia works, then sorry - I've not been around long. Thanks. Tonibella 21:48, 22 August 2005 (UTC)
Thanks Kelly. I understand. Tonibella 07:25, 23 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Misuse of one-click rollback
In my opinion, this edit is an abuse of one-click rollback. Not only was it not vandalism, but you actually reverted out a spelling correction! Please do not use one-click rollback for anything other than actual vandalism. Thank you for your cooperation. Kelly Martin 03:53, August 26, 2005 (UTC)

You posted this comment on RfA Talk: Probably the worst backlog we have is on WP:CP, and even there non-admins can help by researching the copyvios and reporting back so that an admin can delete (or not) as necessary.
