[edit] Nov 2006

I removed the following text:

"In 1982, McGillis and her roommate were assaulted and raped in their home by the escaped rapist Leroy Johnson after McGillis came home from work. This experience encouraged the 5'10" actress to pursue her role as the lawyer who supports Jodie Foster's character in The Accused."

I don't know whether or not any of this is correct, but the only reference I can find to "Leroy Johnson" is a Medal of Honor recipient. If I am mistaken, by all means correct it.

How about these? [1] [2] [3] [4] I think I'll put that information back on basis on several independent news sources. I would be happy if a more original source could be found though. -- Northgrove 22:16, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Btw, I'm not sure about the encouragement as a lawyer actor though, and will add a {{Fact}} tag for that though. Until she's quoted talking about this, it could just as well be a freak coincidence? -- Northgrove 22:17, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] McGillis' height

She is clearly an inch shorter than Cruise, and Cruise is listed on IMDb as 5"7', so her height of 5"10' is clearly impossible unless Cruise was standing on something four inches high during their love scene. Obviously that would be so ridiculously humiliating that Cruise would not tolerate it. I mean, FOUR INCHES?!! That's the height of a house brick ... and then some!

Also, in case you had forgotten, Maverick feels the need ... the need for speed! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 210.50.228.5 (talk) 10:47, 29 December 2006 (UTC).

That movie was made before Tom Cruise got famous, so clearly he had not that much influence in the choice of his partner. He wouldn't have been the first actor to stand on something to appear larger. The same source that you cite for his height (Imdb) also says that McGillis is 5"10'. And don't forget that both his two ex-wives and his current wife are larger than him, so it seems that he can handle his below average height. -- CecilK 06:47, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Actually, he is shorter than McGillis; he stood on apple crates to increase his apparent height for the film. How would I cite first hand information?
