Keith Gilyard

Raymond Keith Gilyard (born 1952 in New York City) is a prominent American professor of English who studies basic writing. His book Voices of the Self: A Study of Language Competence recounts his education to compare theories about black academic failure with the actual experience of a black academic.

Gilyard received his doctorate at New York University.
