[edit] Birth and death dates
Encyclopædia Britannica gives his dates as: "born Aug. 5, 1836, Izushi, Tajima province, Japan died Feb. 9, 1916, Tokyo". What is the source of the information in this article? --Rbraunwa 23:53, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
- dates have been corrected. death date was a typo. birth date was based on lunar calendar in use before start of Meiji period, and needed to be converted to Gregorian calendar.--MChew 15:02, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
