Kathalia (Bengali: কাঁঠালিয়া ) is an Upazila of Jhalakati District in the Division of Barisal, Bangladesh.

Kathalia is located at 22.4000° N 90.1250° E . It has 23904 units of house hold and total area 152.08 km².

As of 1991 Bangladesh census^[1], Kathalia has a population of 123298. Males constitute are 50.02% of the population, and females 49.98%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 63714. Kathalia has an average literacy rate of 50.9% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. ^[2]
