Kashmir Charitable Trust (KCT) is a registered Charity Number 1053171. KCT (UK) is a voluntary organization striving to assist people of Kashmir. It has contributed funds to organizations and individuals on all sides of the divide. KCT has provided funds to people and local Organizations working in different regions of Kashmir particularly, in education, social work, setting up training centres, creating basic employment and medical treatment for the long term injuries. KCT would welcome any one who would be interested to participate in its activities to achieve its objectives, or make regular donations.

Members of KCT over the years have been endeavoring to assist as many ongoing projects as possible through other charitable Organizations working in Jammu & Kashmir. However, there is a lot more work that can be carried out with increased man-power and financial resources. People living in the UK, particularly Kashmiri People have contributed well in making some of the projects successful.

After the huge disaster of 8th October 2005 Board of Director/Executive committee decided to establish the regional offices in Azad Kashmir for the rehabilitation of the needy community. The team of the Organization reached in Muzaffarabad on 17th October 2005 and the partner Organization of KCT Kashmir Record and Research Cell (www.krrc.org ) also help KCT for establishing the basic structure of the Organization in Muzaffarabad and the other district of Azad Kashmir.

KCT works to release the potential abilities, skills and knowledge of poor men and women, to enable them to articulate their aspiration and to effectively marshal the resources they need to meet their identified needs. The purpose is empower local community – enabling people to break the cycle of poverty, which begins with lack of opportunity, extends to the well known miseries of economic and nutritional poverty and leads new generations to endure the same conditions. The process is social mobilization – bringing people together on new terms for a common purpose. The conceptual tools are “Social Guidance” advocacy, capacity building and awareness. The programmatic tools are training, and creating Job opportunities for local men and women who will take on a leadership role.

The rescue relief and restoration activities put an upbeat impact on the process of Social Mobilization Program of the project. In this regard a number of meetings were conducted with community representatives of evacuation of critically injured people, rescue and food distribution, provision of temporary shelters and provision guidance for coordination with other organization came for the purpose.
